Aloha Family, Friends & District 40 Ohana!

My name is Janie Gueso, and I am running for State House Representative for District 40 - which serves the entire West Loch Village and Iroquois Point, and portions of West Loch Fairways, Ewa Gentry, and Ewa Beach. I am a proud Saber from the class of 1994 at James Campbell High School; and having been born and raised in District 40, I am deeply rooted in our community.

I am honored to be a member of the first graduated class of the University of Hawaii West Oahu - Kapolei campus. I received my bachelor's degree in Business Administration from UHWO in 2012 and now help to manage my family’s business, Silva Store - which has been serving the community since 1946 - making it the longest running business in Ewa Beach. I also work as a state certified substitute teacher for the Department of Education and have taught a multitude of students in our community since I began teaching in 2008.

My family roots go back five generations in District 40. My mother, Cynthia Gueso, worked for many years as an Educational Assistant at Ilima Intermediate School. She is now retired from the Department of Education and still resides on Kauiki Street, in the same house in which my five siblings and I were raised. As you can tell, my family and I and are well vested in our Ewa Beach community. My own blended ohana consists of eight children, with a grand total of fourteen grandchildren, soon to be fifteen. I am proud to say that my family and I are known community contributors as advocates for improving public schools and for finding solutions to various communal social and safety issues that have negatively impacted our community.

I am proud of our unique multicultural comradery that adds to the cultural fabric that makes up our District 40 community. When I am elected as your State House representative, I will work diligently to ensure proper representation for all our District 40 ohana! I pledge to listen to the concerns of our District 40 ohana and to continue to address any issues affecting our community. I will work to find solutions that will make our community a safe, thriving, nurturing place to live for us and our children, and for all future generations.

I appreciate the support that helped us to achieve victory in the primary election.  I would appreciate your continued support in the general election which will be held on November 8.  The Honolulu Elections Division office will begin mailing ballots out on October 15.  Please vote for me to serve as your District 40 State Representative. I would be honored to serve you and our community! Mahalo nui loa!

Very humbly yours,

Janie Gueso
